Narcissus is not a myth. N looks an ideal being in terms of his own reflection. In fact, the imagery is projected upon his desire. Therefore, N drives himself into the water. But if N sinks in the slime, he feels that he is going to be lost in it. The slime makes N a ‘slime-being’, a somewhat nightmarish scenario because of its perpetual state.
